Outpouring of Support from AHS
My mom works at a local high school, Athens High School, as the main office secretary. Last Christmas I met with her and one of the assistant principals of the school about doing a pop can drive to raise money. He agreed, but limited my scope to faculty/staff only. Yesterday my mom sent an email to all faculty/staff about the volunteer project and asked them to bring in pop cans on Fridays. She also included a note about how to donate if they felt inclined to do so.
The outpouring of support stunned me. The Environmental Club is donating a weeks worth of returnables to me, many faculty/staff members are bringing in pop cans, and several staff members have asked if they can donate to me via check. I'm so grateful and excited for the support given by Athens High School. I'm going home this weekend for a concert and will take tons of pop cans to (several local) Meijers, Krogers, and other places that take pop cans. And then it's a trip to the bank! I might be able to send CCS my first fundraising check!
I'll post again with updates on fundraising!
Thanks again to the Athens High School community for their support.
